Report: A tight game. Parks started a little brighter than us, and probed without creating any definitive chances. Our team was a little scratch in nature, and so it took a while for us to click. After about 20 minutes we got ourselves into the game, and started hitting Parks on the break, with both our strikers going close on two or three occasions before we broke the deadlock... A great ball from central midfield teeing up our striker for a simple finish. Two similar goals followed before half time, and a shot off the post too. We went into the break 3-0 up, but could have been more. Second half was a very different game. Almost all the pressure was on us. Parks had brought on a lad to play down our left who seemed able to skip past challenges at will; and our back line insisted on playing pretty passes all across the six yard box instead of getting the ball up field. The combination of these put us under a lot of new pressure. We conceded through a penalty, and then from a silly defensive error. At 3-2 our keeper got injured, so we had to play a midfielder in goal. We brought on a striker, and switched Mike N to the middle of the park. There was some more of the usual bickering (people in the team - you know who you are - cut it out for next season, it doesn't help..!), but we stuck to our shape, and managed to ride out the remaining minutes of the game to win all three points; and to ensure a top four finish. Roll on next season.
