Report: After making the long trip to Merton the team talk was simple; we don't want to come all this way to lose.
The first half we started brightly and dominated possession without creating any great chances. Merton had the best chance after a free kick was floated in and headed towards the far post only for Lee Wood to make a magnificent save that Gordon Banks would have been proud of. The first goal did eventually go against us and probably against the run of play 0-1.
After Merton scored, they started to get on top and were pressing for the second, but Lee Brown had other ideas. He won the ball from a long goal kick, powered forward and smashed home a half volley from 30 yards out to get us back in the game. Half time 1-1

We knew in the second half we had to be a bit quicker to the first ball and defend better. It was Merton who took the lead again after a free kick was floated in and didn't seem to get a touch from any one before going in at the back post 1-2.
The game opened up and started to get end to end, but it was us who got the next goal when Lopez picked the ball up 25 yards out and smashed home from 25 yards out, another wonder goal 2-2.
Merton then took the lead again after a decision from the referee to give them a penalty which can only be described as wrong 2-3.
The game now wide open and end to end, we could have easily gone behind further but we kept battling away and got our reward when Lee Brown picked up the lose ball after Hunn was through on goal and rounded 2 players before making it 3-3. Again the game opened up even more and when we got a free kick in the last seconds of the game, there was only one option. Send up our free kick specialist Marcus to get us a winner.
He stepped up and curled it into the far corner to give us victory.

A great game to play in, and an even better one to win. I'm sure Merton will fill they should have got something from the game, and a draw would have probably been a fair result. But you don't always get what you deserve in football as we have found out this season so this time the result went our way.
MOM: Lee Brown.

Report:
Just like the old days, travelling miles south of the river for a game of football, the only thing that was missing was standing around in the freezing cold outside the ABC Turnpike Lane waiting for the last player to appear. We arrived with the bare 11, but luckily Lloyds who were playing their first Mega Vets fixture, were just aged and immobile as us but in truth this turned out to be a comfortable 2-0 hammering. We dominated possession for long periods of the 1st half but just couldn't put the finishing touch to our approach play. Unfortunately too many of our clear cut chances seemed to fall to Gilly who is as useful in front of goal as a one legged man at an arse kicking contest! However just when we thought our pressure would not be rewarded we scored 10 mins before the break in the most unlikely fashion. Eddie Naughton attacking down the right cut back onto his left foot and swung over a cross for Aubrey Thomas to ghost in and steer his header wide of the keeper. The second half turned out to be just as frustrating with chance after chance going begging including an Acierno penalty miss. He skyed his kick over the bar and ironically that was one of the few occasions that Pas actually managed to get the ball off the ball off the ground! Eventually we got the important second goal, John Leitch calmly lifting the ball over the advancing keeper to give a score line that more reflected our dominance. Despite the travelling distance an enjoyable outing with Lloyds proving excellent hosts. Unfortunately I got lost coming home, I decided to try out my new Bonnie Tyler satnav, it was rubbish. Kept telling me to turn around and every now and then it fell apart!!
