Saturday was the first of our back to back games against Lyonians. This was going to be a massive game for several reasons. Nothing but a win would keep our promotion push on track. A win and top performance could possibly dishearten Lyonians for next week. We started brightly creating some good chances. Phillips looking menacing down the left. Firstly a delightful ball from Matt at RWB was met by the flying LWB Phillips at the back stick who just couldn’t keep his first time effort down. It was always gonna be tough to match last weeks performance in all departments. But we knew if we could get close to it, we would give Kew more than enough problems to take the 3 points. The pre match huddle was focussed on talk of controlling the one controllable on any given saturday, our work rate. If we work hard on and off the ball and leave everything on the pitch, more often than not, the results will take care of themselves. We started brightly, causing Kew problems from the off. Match report - 1st XI v Old Blues

Despite last week’s disappointing return to league action in 2019, there was an air of certainty, a whiff of invincibility amongst the Stationers boys in the lead up to the make or break top of the table clash against Old Blues. Perhaps it was because it was the first time this season we have managed to name a full strength squad. FOR AN AWAY GAME AS WELL!!! The only absentee being long term injured Chalky, who is sleeping in oxygen tents and bathing in ice baths in his battle to be back before the end of the season.
