Former players enjoy AFA Cup win

Every year a group of grey haired men (and their less hirsute brothers...) make the pilgrimage to the Old Stationers FC "Re-Union Day" where stories of yesteryear abound. Amazingly almost every former player was "Greaves-like" so it's hard to understand why we didn't win more titles with such talent at our disposal. Fading memories and rose tinted specs perchance ? Tinted specs were certainly needed on a beautiful crisp and sunny autumn afternoon, and it was clear that everyone was impressed with the quality of the current first XI, who won their AFA Cup tie by a goal to nil. Match Report - 1st XI v Cambridge Heath AFA Cup

Ex-players day at The Stationers meant the current players had to put on a performance to show the old boys what we’re made of. The oppo, Cambridge Heath, arrived early and were warming up. Stationers started quickly, zinging a few passes together and putting the oppo under early pressure, but nothing threatening. Possession for most of the game was very much kept in the middle third, neither team really producing anything exciting in the final thirds. A few questionable challenges saw Elsey lose his head a couple of times - once out of anger and once from almost

Match Report - 1st XI v Old Carthusians

This Saturday saw us make the 140 mile round trip to Godalming to take on the current holders, Old Carthusians, in the Old Boys Cup. We arrived with a bare 11 for what we knew before the game would be one of our biggest tests in a good few seasons. We opted to tweak the shape to a 5-3-2 this week, and seen as we have not played this formation so far this season we inevitably started slowly, trying to adjust to the new shape. We went 1-0 down after 5 mins or so when Carthusians striker finished neatly into the bottom corner on the half volley off a rebound. We went a further goal behind only 5 mins later when we didn’t deal with a high ball in the area and it was headed in at the back stick.
