XI v Alexandra Park 9s Lost 2-0

We started the game without our normal regular 11 with a few new faces coming in. Straight from the off the opposition broke with an attack creating a chance within the first few minutes, which basically set the tone of the game for the first half. We never really seemed to be at our best and we struggled to string passes together. It didnt really help when we didn't close down space and allow them to play. 20 mins in and they broke the deadlock with a long ball played over the left back and their winger played in a low cross for their forward to roll the ball past Karl. We had alot of possession but all too often we just couldn't build in the last half of the park if we weren't giving the ball away.We seemed certain to be going in with them a goal to the good with about 10 minutes left until an error of judgment by Carl who didnt hold on to a tame shot of some kind which slipped through his fingers 2-0 down.

2nd half we seemed more purposeful with us dominating for long periods of the game. Darragh our man of steel who was having a sterling game at centre back had to come off with an injury to his hamstring 15 mins in. We continued to probe but all what we tried was to no avail as we was were wayward with our shooting. To be fair to us our workrate was lifted with john Murphy coming close on 3 occasions on another day he would of had a hat-trick. We played out to the final whistle and when the game was over the disappointment resonated throughout the lads. We should be turning teams like this over but all in all I suppose it was just a bad day at the office. Pick ourselves up and on to the next game versus vamps. I hope that I dont need to tell you the significance of this game, our local rivals aiming for promotion so this alone should be enough motivation for us COYS. Special mention for debutant jazz and Alex k good understanding up front .
